Ready … steady – draw, snap, write…

Hello to all Coventry & Warwickshire schools. Here’s the chance to have some summer term fun by taking part in the Creative Competition with Coventry Cathedral.

Get your class together, like the children of St Oswald’s of Rugby did recently (image below), and photograph, draw or write about the cathedral in its Jubilee Year. Whether it’s because it represents an important part of our History; a subject in the Humanities that this symbol of global post war reconciliation represents; or a great theme for getting messy in Art…

…there’s something for everyone to enjoy, to learn and to join in.

Teachers and helpers – to enter, create a class Flickr site (just visit www.flickr.com  to set one up - it’s easy, really) and upload your children’s and student’s work.

Then, join the Cathedral’s Competition Group at http://www.flickr.com/groups/coventrycathedralcompetition/ and copy over the photos, drawings or stories / poems that you want your class to enter.

There are separate categories for Photography, Drawing and Writing and three age groups: 11 and under, 12 to 16 and 17 plus.

What's more - there is so so much here to inspire creative young minds.

The competition closes 30th September and winners will be notified by e-mail (so please make sure your e-mail addresses are ‘contactable’ on your Flickr account details).

Winners’ work will be displayed as part of the Golden Jubilee Exhibition in October this year, alongside works from some of the great artistic contributors of the last 50 years that have made Coventry Cathedral what it is today.
